SEA THE LIGHT

Fish are forgetful, so we have to remember to stick up for them. They play a crucial role in maintaining the balance and sustainability of our planet’s aquatic ecosystems. And snorkeling would be terrible without them.

The more people who swap fish for plant-based alternatives, the greater the impact on marine populations and ocean ecosystems. It’s time to wake up and smell the seaweed, before it’s too late.

THE PLANET IS COUNTING ON US

OUR OCEANS

ARE THE LUNGS OF OUR PLANET

They produce oxygen, they regulate climate, and they’re home to some of the most stunning and diverse ecosystems on Earth. But we’re treating them like a bottomless pit, just taking and taking without thinking about the consequences. And we’re not scientists, but we’re pretty sure that you can’t last that long without your lungs.

Action is needed to protect our oceans and the delicate balance of life in them. We need to fish responsibly, support sustainable aquaculture practices, and make conscious choices about the seafood we eat. And we need to do it now.

THERE AREN'T

PLENTY MORE FISH IN THE SEA

Despite what your supportive friends might tell you when you’re going through a break up, there really aren’t more fish in the sea. We’re pulling fish out of the water faster than they can reproduce, and it’s wreaking havoc on marine ecosystems. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said that as of 2020, about 34.2% of global fish stocks are estimated to be overfished. We need to act now to stop it getting worse.

Overfishing isn’t just a threat to our favorite seafood, it disrupts the entire ocean ecosystem. Fish are a vital part of the food chain, and when their numbers dwindle it has a ripple effect on everything from other marine species to the livelihoods of coastal communities.

UNSUSTAINABLE FISH FARMING

IF YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT...

…then when it comes to fish there’s a good chance you’re unhealthy, unnatural and pumped full of antibiotics.

Fish farming (aquaculture) is a good idea in theory to relieve pressure on traditional fishing, but the reality is fish crammed into pens, fed a terrible diet and heavily medicated.

Farming pollutes the water, causing all sorts of problems for our oceans and its inhabitants. And the bad chemicals pumped into the fish end up on our plate. It’s bad for fish, the environment and for us.
